To start, I again apologize for my male, American voice. This program still has yet to incorporate a female voice without having to pay for it. Argh....

This session will be in my mind for many, many years to come.  Meet Michah!  She's the daughter of an elementary school friend, Melinda, that I have reacquainted with after 30 years via FB! I don't even know where to start this story.  Not too long ago I posted about my other elementary school friend's son that I took senior photos for. So again, I suppose I'll start at the beginning. I had 2 elementary school friends that meant the world to me.  My family moved away to the South hill of Spokane from the North side and away from my friends. I was devastated as I knew my parents and theirs would not be driving us back and forth as much as we would have liked.  Many tears were shed....and I mean many!  We lost touch after the move as we all expected. I don't know who found who but somehow we were all three back together again.  We've gotten together several times and caught up, enjoyed one another's company once again and got to know each others families and spouses/significant others. It's truly been a wonderful time reacquainting.

Michah was due to have her baby at the end of March. We decided while we were out to dinner one night together that she needed to have some pregnancy images.  Typically, a maternity session is best around 30 weeks. So, before things got too crazy with social distancing, we decided to meet up to get these images going since she was already due in two weeks time.  We had so much fun talking, walking, shooting.  Being with my ole' friend Melinda again felt so natural and her daughter is just the spitting image of Melinda. I did not know my friend when she was in her 20's, so when I looked at Michah, it's exactly what she would have looked like in my mind.  I can't tell you how much fun and meaningful this was for me.  After the session, I was on a high, thinking to myself how amazing it was to be a part of this whole experience.  The crazy part is that not even 6 hours later in that same day, Michah had her baby girl at home with a planned home birth!  I was floored and honestly, I was so relieved we got those images taken before it was too late.  Sadly, this virus has kept us from having a newborn session together.  I have yet to meet baby Briar in person and can't wait to do so when this is all over.

What may not be easy to see with just my brief words in this story is that my whole life I have never been one to have many friends.  In fact, my daughters make fun of me (in a fun loving way of course) because in their eyes I've never had any friends.  Growing up with three brothers, I never had even a sister to pal around with as I grew into adult-hood. These two elementary school girl friends were my first friendships that I've ever had.  Our bond was strong and although we are all different from one another and our lives have taken us down extremely different paths, when we are together, it's as though we've always been together. There is a strong camaraderie that is inexplainable. Even when we don't see each other for awhile, we always come back together and it just feels right, like no time has passed whats so ever.  So to just say that this session is one that I will never forget is truly an understatement.  It will always be with me as a special time that I was able to do something for a very dear friend of mine.
